Modern Languages & Linguistics

Research on the languages, literatures, cultures and societies of all regions, countries and communities is undertaken within this Space at UCLan and includes world leading research in all areas of general, historical, theoretical, descriptive and applied linguistics, phonetics and translation studies and interpreting studies. The Research Space takes a broad view of what constitutes modern language studies and includes, but not be limited to: literature and thought; cultural studies; theatre studies; film and media studies; visual cultures; language studies; translation studies and interpreting studies; political, social and historical studies; postcolonial studies. The large and aried context of the Faculty of Culture and Creative Industries provides extensive transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary research opportunities.
